Broaden Your Smile

Problem

When you smile, you see more gums than teeth or your teeth appear too small or too short. You have a gummy smile.

Solution

To allow more tooth to be visible, gain better tooth length and proportions with less gum tissue showing, your cosmetic dentist may recommend crown lengthening, sometimes referred to as gum recontouring. This procedure is a minor surgical procedure.  It can be as simple as trimming the gum tissue.  Just like trimming your cuticles around your fingernails or it maybe as advanced as trimming both gum and bone from around the front of the teeth.  The goal of the procedure is to establish more natural shape and size of the teeth.
